Job Summary

Lead patent litigation matters end-to-end for TikTok’s Global Legal team, independently driving strategy, fact development, discovery, motions, and trial preparation. Serve as primary legal lead across multiple active disputes, manage and oversee outside counsel, and coordinate technical materials with Product, Engineering, and R&D for U.S. litigation. Support pre-litigation assessments, licensing analysis, and related IP disputes including copyright and trade secrets.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead patent litigation matters from inception through resolution, including case strategy, fact development, discovery coordination, motion practice, and trial preparation.
•Act as primary legal lead for assigned matters, independently setting strategy, priorities, and execution in partnership with outside counsel and internal stakeholders.
•Hire, direct, and manage outside counsel across all litigation phases, including work product review, strategic guidance, budget oversight, and billing management.
•Manage multiple active matters at once by overseeing deadlines, milestones, risks, and deliverables across different stages of litigation.
•Coordinate technical materials (including source code and documentation) with Product, Engineering, and R&D for U.S. litigation matters; support related IP disputes including copyright and trade secret litigation as needed.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school, and qualified to practice law in the U.S.
•Significant experience managing patent litigation matters with substantial hands-on responsibility for case management and strategy execution.
•Extensive relevant legal experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house.
•Demonstrated ability to independently lead litigation matters and work effectively with outside counsel on strategy, discovery, motions, and day-to-day execution.
•Comfort working with technology-driven products and developing a deep understanding of technical issues.
