Key Responsibilities

  • •Serve as a technical lead performing project work for traction power system designs for electrified railways (AC and DC).
  • •Prepare design drawings and documents, including technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies.
  • •Prepare and guide engineers/drafters/designers to develop one-line and elementary/wiring diagrams, cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, and substation equipment specifications.
  • •Perform protective relay settings and coordination studies, and conduct technical studies, reports, analysis, and field test support for traction power systems.
  • •Recommend actions to ensure compliance with client, local, state, federal regulations and standards (including AREMA and NFPA/IEEE), and perform site investigations/walk-downs and relay/substation field activities as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related) plus 6 years of traction power design experience for 750 V DC third rail and overhead distribution systems (12 kV AC, 25 Hz; 2x 12.5 kV AC, 60 Hz; 2x 25 kV, 60 Hz), or demonstrated equivalent.
  • •Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • •Experience with traction power systems (AC/DC), including relaying, rectifier, distribution, and SCADA equipment.
  • •Experience leading design calculations, plans, specifications, and technical report writing for traction power systems.
  • •Knowledge of AREMA and IEEE standards for traction power design, with experience on large transit/railroad projects and constructability-minded design.
