Job Summary

Firmware-focused software engineer designing, developing and validating low-level CPU software (BIOS, Boot Loader) for Arista products. You’ll work with hardware teams, CPUs and open-source BIOS communities, own features from definition to deployment, and mentor junior engineers in a mid-senior software engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, develop, integrate and maintain the low-level CPU software in Arista products.
•Develop automated tests using C, C++ and Python to validate features.
•Collaborate with hardware engineers and vendors to qualify new CPUs and components.
•Track Linux Kernel developments and identify features for Arista products and internal needs.
•Contribute features to upstream open source BIOS communities and review specifications.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 123,000 - 191,000 annually

Key Requirements

•BS in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering with 3+ years experience, or MS with 2+ years, or PhD with 1+ years, or equivalent experience
•Expert knowledge of C; knowledge of C++ and Python desirable
•Experience in CPU firmware, BIOS and boot loader environments; bringing up new CPU boards
•Hands-on troubleshooting and bug fixing in low-level firmware; familiarity with Linux kernel desirable
•Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to work independently or in small teams
