Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform histological preparations for the tissue whole exome sequencing laboratory, including tissue preparation, stained slides, and macrodissection, with little to no errors.
  • •After training and competency, independently perform testing, reagent, and equipment preparation.
  • •Monitor and manage cases to ensure processing within department TAT goals; investigate and address sample processing issues.
  • •Participate in validations and perform qualifications of reagents.
  • •Support EH&S initiatives (including safety audits), update/create Standard Operating Procedures, document corrective actions, and provide general oversight and guidance in the lab.

Key Requirements

  • •An associate's or higher degree in a histotechnician program.
  • •Or an associate's or higher degree in chemical or biological sciences plus relevant histology experience/training (within the past 5 years) or at least 9 months of histotechnician training.
  • •HT (ASCP) required.
  • •0-2 years of experience.
  • •Complete required training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy and policy/procedure compliance within the first 30 days of hire.
