Job Summary

Provide dedicated technical and operational support for the initial rollout of South Africa’s EPR Flagship Roadmap. Coordinate implementation of AVoHC-SURGE and EMT activities, support staffing needs assessments and IHR-aligned capacity strengthening, and improve emergency operations through logistics planning, coordination, and resource management. Develop and adapt training materials, support simulation/tabletop exercises, maintain trained-personnel databases, and produce reporting and stakeholder coordination updates for WHO and health authorities.

Key Responsibilities

•Support the initial implementation of the South Africa EPR Flagship Roadmap through technical and operational coordination.
•Facilitate SURGE-related initiatives by supporting AVoHC-SURGE operationalization, EMT activities, and staffing needs assessments.
•Strengthen IHR-aligned capacities and contribute to activities supporting compliance and core capacities.
•Support emergency operations through logistics planning, coordination, and resource management.
•Produce deliverables including adapted AVoHC-SURGE/EMT training manuals, databases of trained personnel, simulation/tabletop exercise support, and activity reports.

Salary: ZAR 93,566

Key Requirements

•First university degree in Public Health, Medicine, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or a related field.
•At least five years of relevant professional experience in public health, emergency preparedness and response, outbreak response coordination, or health programme implementation.
•Experience supporting implementation of emergency preparedness and response activities.
•Experience working with WHO or another UN Agency.
•Experience working with the WHO-AFRO-AFRICA CDC AVoHC-SURGE initiative.
