Job Summary

Operate construction trucks to safely and efficiently transport bulk scrap commodities between marine docks, railcars, storage yards, receiving bins, and other sites. Ensure work meets quality and policy expectations under supervisor direction. Perform routine vehicle inspections, approved maintenance, fueling and lubrication, and follow safe procedures for loading, traveling, dumping, and lockout/shutdown. Provide responsive service to customer requests and maintain equipment readiness at shift end.

Key Responsibilities

•Transport bulk scrap commodities safely and efficiently to/from barges, railcars, trucks, and storage facilities while meeting supervisor expectations and published procedures.
•Operate construction trucks (up to approximately 100 tons) to move scrap and/or finished materials between marine docks, storage yards, receiving bins, and other required locations.
•Understand and comply with policies, procedures, and guidelines for safe vehicle operation.
•Perform routine pre-operation vehicle inspections and note problems requiring maintenance; perform approved maintenance as needed.
•Handle fueling and lubrication, follow safe procedures for loading/traveling/dumping, startup/shut down and lockout, ensure vehicle cleanliness and readiness, and respond to customer requests for service, materials, and support.

Key Requirements

•High school graduation certificate (or equivalent) is desired but not required.
•Previous experience operating heavy equipment is a plus.
•Must be able to operate and maintain equipment safely at all times.
•Must be able to take direction and supervision and work cooperatively with others.
•Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and work extended periods sitting in the vehicle cab in all weather; available for all shifts and weekends.
