Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and implement hybrid search strategies that combine keyword matching with semantic search.
  • •Tune relevance by building systems to measure and improve search quality and answer accuracy using evaluation tools like LangSmith.
  • •Integrate OpenAI embeddings into Elasticsearch and manage vector search and RAG retrieval, including indexing long documents for accurate retrieval.
  • •Optimize Elasticsearch queries and index settings to maintain low latency for complex, filter-heavy searches.
  • •Develop and maintain Python backend services that build queries and process results using FastAPI and Asyncio.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years building search engines in production, with strong understanding of indices, analyzers, and mappings.
  • •Understand lexical (keyword) vs vector (meaning) search and know when to use each.
  • •Strong Python experience (Python 3.10+), comfortable with async/await and building APIs.
  • •Experience designing data schemas for search, including structuring JSON documents for efficient retrieval.
  • •Experience building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines.
