Key Responsibilities

  • •Own service mesh architecture end-to-end by standardizing and evolving Istio and Envoy deployments and building the networking foundation for multi-region operation.
  • •Drive Kubernetes compute platform evolution, including cluster lifecycle, scheduling strategy, control plane architecture, and multi-region resiliency.
  • •Redesign infrastructure provisioning by transforming Terraform into a scalable, self-service platform capability for rapid region provisioning.
  • •Operate with source-level depth by diagnosing issues across Kubernetes API machinery, etcd, Envoy xDS, and Terraform provider layers; contribute upstream when applicable.
  • •Define technical direction through architecture proposals, design reviews, and cross-functional alignment on infrastructure decisions affecting all engineering teams.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep, hands-on expertise with Kubernetes internals, including API server, controller reconciliation, etcd watch propagation, scheduler mechanics, and admission control.
  • •Working knowledge of Istio and/or Envoy at the source code level, including xDS and debugging at the control-plane/data-plane boundary.
  • •Wire-level knowledge of HTTP/2 and gRPC, including connection management, flow control, stream multiplexing, and observability.
  • •Architectural experience with Terraform at scale, including module design patterns, provider internals, remote state management, and multi-region provisioning.
