Job Summary

Monitor plant systems continuously and respond to alarms with corrective actions to keep the facility operating safely and efficiently. Execute plant start-up/shut-down and emergency operating procedures, operate control panels, and maintain load, steam conditions, and fuel/combustion performance. Lead and oversee OPTechs, coordinate dispatch communications between Springdale and BETM/JPM, maintain logs/LOTO, and communicate risks and daily availability in production meetings.

Key Responsibilities

•Continuously monitor plant system status, report upset conditions/anomalies, and make Operating Log entries.
•Approve and issue Lockout Tagout (LOTO) as required and execute plant shut-down/start-up and emergency operating procedures.
•Operate control panels to regulate load on the HRSG and turbines while maintaining steam temperature/pressure and feedwater/fuel supply and combustion conditions.
•Provide direction to OpTechs and give guidance to maintenance personnel on emergent plant operations; develop and use emergency procedures as needed.
•Communicate plant condition, daily availability, and generation risks during the morning production meeting; coordinate dispatch communications with BETM and requests from PJM.

Key Requirements

•Minimum two years of experience as an Assistant Plant Operator or equivalent in an operating or generating plant.
•Ability to understand, write, and document procedures and instructions for the assigned area (as would be acquired in four years of high school).
•Preferred experience in combined cycle plant operations.
•Associate degree in a technical field (desirable).
•Successfully complete the Operations Supervisor qualification card and Board Review.
