Key Responsibilities

  • •Continuously monitor plant system status, report upset conditions/anomalies, and make Operating Log entries.
  • •Approve and issue Lockout Tagout (LOTO) as required and execute plant shut-down/start-up and emergency operating procedures.
  • •Operate control panels to regulate load on the HRSG and turbines while maintaining steam temperature/pressure and feedwater/fuel supply and combustion conditions.
  • •Provide direction to OpTechs and give guidance to maintenance personnel on emergent plant operations; develop and use emergency procedures as needed.
  • •Communicate plant condition, daily availability, and generation risks during the morning production meeting; coordinate dispatch communications with BETM and requests from PJM.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum two years of experience as an Assistant Plant Operator or equivalent in an operating or generating plant.
  • •Ability to understand, write, and document procedures and instructions for the assigned area (as would be acquired in four years of high school).
  • •Preferred experience in combined cycle plant operations.
  • •Associate degree in a technical field (desirable).
  • •Successfully complete the Operations Supervisor qualification card and Board Review.
