Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop protection philosophy and engineering drawings (one-line/three-line, DC control schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panel layouts).
  • •Calculate and maintain protective relay settings and logic for transmission/distribution equipment, including generators and battery energy storage/inverter-based resources.
  • •Specify protection components (relays, CTs/VTs, trip circuits, lockout and breaker-failure schemes, and communications-assisted schemes).
  • •Commission protection systems using functional checks, primary/secondary injection, end-to-end scheme tests, and in-service timing checks.
  • •Analyze fault/disturbance records and coordinate studies, keep settings management documentation up to date, and integrate protection with SCADA/RTUs as applicable.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or computer engineering or another engineering discipline).
  • •3+ years of protection and controls experience (settings, design, or commissioning) on medium- or high-voltage systems.
  • •Hands-on experience with protection and control schemes for transmission/distribution assets and protective relays.
  • •Familiarity with short-circuit, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies.
  • •Ability to support on-site work in Memphis, including extended hours/outages and providing 24/7 on-call support for emergencies.
