Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead high-impact research programs spanning health, human performance, physiology, sleep, recovery, training adaptation, and health outcomes—from strategy and study design through analysis and dissemination.
  • •Develop rigorous research methodologies, study protocols, analytical frameworks, and scientific approaches to generate actionable evidence for product innovation and strategic decisions.
  • •Partner with Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Analytics to translate scientific findings into member-facing features, algorithms, insights, and experiences.
  • •Analyze and interpret complex physiological, biometric, behavioral, and health datasets to test hypotheses and establish scientifically defensible conclusions.
  • •Advance WHOOP’s scientific credibility through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, external collaborations, and clear communication to scientific and non-scientific audiences.

Salary: USD 130,000 - 175,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •PhD in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Biomedical Engineering, Physiology, Sleep Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, Neuroscience, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • •8+ years of post-PhD research experience in academic, industry, or applied settings, focused on health, human performance, physiology, sleep, or related areas.
  • •Demonstrated ability to independently define scientific questions and lead complex research programs from hypothesis generation through study design, analysis, publication, and application.
  • •Strong quantitative and analytical capability to analyze large/complex physiological, biometric, behavioral, wearable, or health datasets using rigorous statistical or computational methods.
  • •Experience translating complex scientific evidence into clear recommendations and influencing decisions across technical and non-technical teams.
