Key Responsibilities

  • •Serve as data protection subject matter legal and compliance expert to cybersecurity, legal, services, and global product teams, advising on global privacy and security laws, standards, and policies with primary focus on security.
  • •Assist and advise commercial counsel on evaluating and negotiating data protection contract terms and conditions.
  • •Research and determine the applicability and obligations of security regulations and frameworks, with a focus on EU security regulations (e.g., NIS2, DORA, Cyber Resilience Act, Critical Entities Resilience Act).
  • •Participate in incident response activities and in cybersecurity and privacy assessments to advise on compliance implications and mitigate compliance risks.
  • •Provide proactive legal guidance on data protection compliance risks for launches of new products and services, including developing and delivering training and providing compliance progress reports to senior management.

Key Requirements

  • •Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • •Admitted to a bar association with authorization to practice within the member state in which the employee works.
  • •Minimum 7 years of work experience as an attorney in private law firm and/or as in-house counsel, including advising global product, service, and/or engineering teams on integrating privacy and security into operations.
  • •Work experience advising on privacy/security for SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, or hybrid (cloud and on-premise) software and services providers.
  • •Working knowledge of global security and privacy laws and standards, particularly EU laws such as NIS2, DORA, Cyber Resilience Act, and the Critical Entities Resilience Act (and UK security laws).
