Job Summary

Lead engineer responsible for the design and modification of electrical/electronic systems for EHV cables, coordinating with civil, structural, substation and OHL teams. Drives lifecycle design from feasibility through detailed design and installation, guiding entry-level engineers and ensuring delivery within budget and schedule in a global energy projects environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead design and modification activities related to electrical and electronic circuits, systems, and equipment for EHV cables and substations.
•Collaborate with civil, structural, substation and OHL teams to ensure fully integrated solutions.
•Review and validate HVAC and HVDC cable system designs, including route development, burial risk assessments, and thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical calculations.
•Carry out cable rating and system studies including ampacity, short circuit forces, thermal stability, and electromagnetic interference analysis.
•Provide guidance to entry-level engineers and manage projects within budget and schedule with minimal supervision.

Key Requirements

•10+ years of work experience preferred, with leadership of large design engineering teams performing Grid Substation design in a global consultancy firm.
•Experience on HV Plant Design for large EHV Grid Substations.
•Delivery of full lifecycle cable engineering packages from feasibility studies and concept design through to detailed design and installation support.
•Review complex HVAC and HVDC cable system designs, including route development, burial risk assessments, thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical calculations.
•Chartership or Fellowship with IET or equivalent is highly preferable; Very good communication skills in English (oral and written) is mandatory.
