Location: Vienna
Workplace: Onsite
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Solutions Engineering & Sales Engineering
Seniority: Mid level

Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and test improved organoid formats, including scaffold composition, geometry, hydrogel/matrix selection, and perfusion.
  • •Develop methods to introduce and position immune populations within tissue scaffolds; prototype and iterate custom culture hardware (e.g., plate inserts, membranes, compartmentalized wells, 3D-printed devices).
  • •Build multi-organoid and multi-tissue plate formats, including co-culture system design, organoid coupling approaches, and defining interactions for disease modeling.
  • •Translate formats for automation by designing with automated systems constraints in mind and implementing routine culture automation (media exchange, plate handling, sampling).
  • •Write and implement SOPs and hardware documentation for tech transfer, while collaborating with assay development and platform teams across sites and working end-to-end on owned projects.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: EUR 65,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •PhD in bioengineering/biomedical engineering/biophysics/biotechnology (or related) with 5+ years hands-on experience beyond the PhD, or an MSc with 8+ years industry experience.
  • •Demonstrated experience building 3D tissue or organoid culture systems, including hydrogels, scaffolds, ECM selection, and matrix characterization.
  • •Hands-on experience designing and fabricating custom culture hardware (CAD, 3D printing, soft lithography, laser cutting, or comparable prototyping).
  • •Solid cell culture skills and ability to work with primary human cells.
  • •Experience with liquid handlers and lab automation hardware (e.g., Hamilton, Tecan, Lynx) plus plate readers and automated incubators; scripting exposure and familiarity with Python or R are a plus.
