Job Summary

Perform electrical studies, SCADA, and system protection work for projects supporting the ESSP Electrical Studies, SCADA & Protection Team. Apply power system fundamentals to activities such as protective relaying, power system planning studies, design studies, networking and communications for RTUs/SCADA, logic and control systems, and technical reporting. Coordinate field/site work, assist with risk assessment, and help commission and troubleshoot systems, including occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform electrical studies, SCADA, and system protection services, supporting either broad activities or specialization based on project needs.
•Conduct protective relaying work including analysis, coordination, protection scheme criteria, relay settings, SCADA integration, NERC compliance, and arc flash analysis.
•Complete power system planning studies such as real/reactive power flow, outage contingencies, interconnect feasibility, voltage stability margins, and dynamic stability performance.
•Design and perform studies including substation grounding, corona, electric/magnetic fields, insulation coordination, transient simulation, and power quality analysis.
•Develop and implement networking, communications, and logic/control schemes for remote and local operation; generate technical reports and assist with field/site coordination and commissioning.

Key Requirements

•BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering), BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology), or BSCE (BS Computer Engineering) from an ABET-accredited university.
•3 to 5 years of industry experience performing design or device configuration in disciplines aligned to the role’s responsibilities.
•Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and process for design/build work and permitting/project-related issues.
•Analytical mindset with the ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to explain ideas to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
