Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the database serving layer end-to-end, ensuring fast, highly available customer-facing APIs through query tuning, index design, and schema optimization on petabyte-scale systems.
  • •Use AI-assisted analysis (e.g., pganalyze paired with Claude) to identify compression/data-model improvements and ship validated changes to production.
  • •Build agentic automation for routine database operations (e.g., self-serve pgbouncer provisioning, disk scaling, blue-green deployments) to reduce team toil.
  • •Validate database changes via agentic validation before production to protect data integrity and latency.
  • •Manage CDC pipelines (PeerDB, Fivetran, Debezium) and use AI tooling to debug replication failures while keeping real-time data flowing.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 200,000 - 220,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •5–8 years building and operating production PostgreSQL systems (Citus, Aurora, AlloyDB, or equivalent distributed Postgres).
  • •Deep SQL optimization skills, including query planning behavior in distributed environments, Explain Plans, and index design.
  • •Hands-on CDC experience with tools such as PeerDB, Fivetran, Debezium (and related tools) and ability to debug replication failure modes.
  • •Database profiling experience using pganalyze (or equivalent) to interpret metrics/logs and summarize findings with LLMs.
  • •Production automation experience in Python or Go (agentic automation of routine database tasks); Postgres extension development is a plus.
