Job Summary

Senior Staff Enterprise Architect, Data leads the strategy, design, and modernization of MongoDB’s enterprise data landscape across multi-cloud platforms. Responsibilities include defining a governance-driven semantic layer, Master Data Management, data lineage, and AI-enabled data quality; enabling self-service data access and natural language querying for business users; and guiding cross-team collaboration from data engineering to product leadership.

Key Responsibilities

•Data Strategy & Roadmap: design semantic layer architecture standards, define governance guardrails, develop Master Data strategy (Customer, Product, Finance, People), define cross-cloud integration patterns, and create 12–24 month roadmaps for Finance, Sales, Product, and People.
•Systems Design & Solution Leadership: evaluate AI-powered data observability platforms, define ingestion architecture (batch to real-time), establish build-vs-buy frameworks, design data solutions for priority initiatives, and collaborate with Product Management and engineers.
•Technical Execution & Delivery: participate in design reviews, ensure alignment with architectural standards, and act as an early adopter of MongoDB Atlas and Voyage AI to influence product roadmap.
•Governance, Standards & Risk Management: define data lineage targets, automate data quality frameworks, collaborate with InfoSec on data access governance, maintain ADRs, and oversee architecture governance for AI/ML initiatives.
•Team Leadership & Evangelism: build architecture community of practice, develop data literacy enablement, and mentor 5–10 data engineers/architects.

Key Requirements

•12+ years in IT with 7+ years in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or Enterprise Architecture roles.
•10+ years across three or more: data architecture, data engineering, database management, analytics, or cloud infrastructure.
•Proven ability to architect solutions that bridge Data Lakes and Warehouses in separate clouds (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
•Hands-on experience with Master Data and data lineage tools; must have designed master data models for at least two domains: Customer, Product, Finance, or People.
•Experience evaluating or implementing AI/ML tools for data quality monitoring and automated data classification.
