Key Responsibilities

  • •Act as senior technical advisor and client lead on transport planning and development management matters for proposals affecting the Strategic Road Network.
  • •Review complex planning application documentation and provide technical assurance/sign-off for development management recommendations.
  • •Oversee complex, high-profile planning consultations and deliver client-ready transport planning documents that meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • •Lead contract delivery activities, including deadlines, resource allocation, workload planning, budget preparation/monitoring, and client KPI reporting.
  • •Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of transport planners; foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Spatial/Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • •Membership (ideally Chartered) of a professional body such as CIHT, TPS, or CILT.
  • •Extensive post-graduate experience in transport planning.
  • •Strong leadership and team management experience, including mentoring individuals and teams.
  • •Comprehensive knowledge of UK transport planning principles, policies, and regulations; experience with transport modelling (strategic and local).
