Key Responsibilities

  • •Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
  • •Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
  • •Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation and polite expressions.
  • •Maintain a professional demeanor throughout interpreting sessions at all times.
  • •Remain calm during interpreting sessions in emergencies (e.g., 911 calls) and manage high call volumes while meeting client expectations.

Key Requirements

  • •Fluency in Icelandic and English; cultural competency to adapt to regional differences
  • •Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States
  • •High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and write in the requested languages (highly preferred)
  • •Ability to adapt to various LanguageLine technology enhancements and meet client demands
  • •Must be able to work from a quiet space with a dedicated device and reliable internet
