Job Summary

Plan and perform hand fusion, machine welding, and other metal-joining processes to fabricate or repair aerospace components. Work from drawings and written instructions, set equipment and gas-flow parameters for quality welds, and prepare/align parts. Operate computer-controlled welding equipment and complete welding cycles, using X-ray/black-light processes and measuring instruments to assess and repair defects. Maintain required metal-joining certifications.

Key Responsibilities

•Under the direction of a supervisor/working leader, plan and perform hand and/or machine welding and associated metal joining to fabricate or repair parts.
•Work from drawings, sketches, welding machine schedules, and verbal/written instructions.
•Make required equipment, gas flow, and other parameter settings to obtain quality welds.
•Prepare parts for welding by aligning and securing details, and operate computer-controlled welding equipment or hand torches to complete welding cycles.
•Use X-ray film or black-light processes and measuring instruments to determine repair extent, check dimensions, and record results while maintaining metal joining certifications.

Key Requirements

•High School or GED.
•1+ years related experience, or a completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field with 0–1+ years related experience.
•Certify and maintain a welding certification in a minimum of two metal groups.
•Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
•Excellent computer skills.
