Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and evolve the event-sourced engine and its C8 REST/gRPC/MCP API (command/event, CQRS), including safe public-API evolution with versioning/deprecation and contract tests.
  • •Lead hard, ambiguous problems end-to-end by defining the problem, writing solution designs (ADRs), weighing trade-offs, sequencing work, and driving delivery.
  • •Ship high-impact engine features such as suspending/resuming process instances and enabling AI agents to steer running processes while simplifying the engine and maintaining a high quality bar.
  • •Deliver resiliency, schema evolution, and observability, including replay safety, migration correctness on the event log, and production diagnosability.
  • •Optimize inefficient processing and data-access patterns across RocksDB, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and relational/Postgres; mentor engineers and lead incident resolution with RCA.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of professional backend engineering with depth in distributed and event-driven systems.
  • •Deep event sourcing/distributed execution knowledge (consistency, ordering, replay) and failure modes like partitions, crashes, duplicate/reordered delivery, idempotency, and recovery.
  • •Strong API design and evolution skills, including contract-first development, backward-compatible changes, versioning/deprecation, and contract testing.
  • •Experience diagnosing and improving performance under production load using profiling/benchmarking, tail-latency, and backpressure reasoning.
  • •Technical leadership from ambiguity: work autonomously, break down undefined problems, drive pragmatic decisions, and level up other engineers.
