Key Responsibilities

•Design, build, and evolve the event-sourced engine and its C8 REST/gRPC/MCP API with safe public-API evolution, including versioning/deprecation and contract tests.
•Lead hard, ambiguous problems end-to-end by defining the problem, writing solution design (ADR), weighing trade-offs, sequencing work, and driving delivery.
•Ship high-impact engine features quickly, such as suspending/resuming process instances and enabling AI agents to steer running processes, while simplifying the engine and maintaining quality.
•Deliver resiliency, schema evolution, and observability, including replay safety, smooth upgrades, migration correctness on the event log, and diagnosability in production.
•Detect and optimize inefficient processing and data-access patterns across RocksDB, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, and relational/Postgres; lead incident resolution and feed systemic fixes back to the platform.

Key Requirements

•5+ years professional backend engineering with real depth in distributed and event-driven systems.
•Deep knowledge of event sourcing / distributed execution, including consistency, ordering, replay, and failure modes (partitions, crashes, duplicate/reordered delivery, idempotency, recovery).
•Strong API design and evolution, including contract-first development, backward-compatible change, versioning/deprecation, and contract testing.
•Ability to diagnose and fix performance under production load through profiling, benchmarking, tail-latency, and backpressure reasoning.
•Technical leadership from ambiguity: work autonomously, drive pragmatic decisions, and level other engineers up.
