Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot and optimize pre-production pipelines, tools, software, and artist workflows, partnering with other TDs and software engineers to resolve complex issues.
  • •Provide technical expertise and guidance for technology across the pre-production department, including direction, evolution, and maintenance of pre-production tools.
  • •Design, develop, and write maintainable code and implement solutions to visual problems using existing tools or new tool development.
  • •Drive QA, technical testing, and validation of new technology, tool releases, and pipeline changes so artist workflows are not impacted.
  • •Mentor mid-level TDs, support orientation for new starters, and collaborate with Program Managers on scheduling and planning for complex initiatives.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years of pipeline TD experience for large-scale animated features, animated TV series, games, and/or VFX feature films.
  • •Expert knowledge of Python, plus PyQt or another GUI toolkit.
  • •Comprehensive experience troubleshooting pre-production domain software such as Maya, Flix, Avid, Storyboard Pro, Premiere, and Photoshop.
  • •Strong understanding of pre-production technical concepts including data flow, dependencies, metadata, publishing, and retrieval.
  • •Knowledge of USD and relevant tooling concepts like ShotGrid; ability to code review and troubleshoot.
