Key Responsibilities

  • •Map and integrate alert sources from Systems, Network, and Security engineering (Icinga, Grafana, SIEM/Splunk/QRadar/Sentinel, BMC/IPMI, provider-native consoles) to the cleanest integration point (webhook, syslog forward, API poll, or native connector).
  • •Build and maintain the routing/forwarding layer that sends top-priority alerts into GIOC’s ticketing and paging tools with preserved priority/severity and enough context for L1 triage.
  • •Validate routing logic with pillar SMEs against each pillar’s resolve-vs-escalate boundary.
  • •Own notification wiring so critical alerts reach GIOC within agreed acknowledgment SLAs without manual relay steps.
  • •Design and build a unified operational dashboard across all five datacenter/provider platforms, define v1 scope and ship on milestones, and run legacy tools in parallel during transition.

Key Requirements

  • •5–8 years in Tools/Platform Engineering (or similar infrastructure role), including 3–5 years with monitoring/alerting tools such as Icinga (or equivalent NMS), Grafana, and a SIEM (Splunk, QRadar, or Sentinel).
  • •Experience consolidating a multi-team, multi-console monitoring and alerting estate—ideally in a cloud/hosting or multi-datacenter operator environment.
  • •3+ years building integrations using APIs/webhooks, with scripting ability in Python (or similar).
  • •2–3 years building or substantially modifying operational dashboards (Grafana, Kibana, Power BI, or similar).
  • •Understanding ticketing/ITSM workflows (Jira, Confluence, Mattermost) and how alert priority/severity maps to ticket fields.
