Key Responsibilities

  • •Operate and maintain the powerhouse, including diesel engine repair and maintenance for Wartsila 32-V16 engines and auxiliary/support systems.
  • •Disassemble machinery to remove parts, perform repairs, replace/adjust/align components, and ensure tools and equipment are kept clean and orderly.
  • •Perform required preventative maintenance and troubleshoot equipment by examining parts for defects and abnormal switchgear readings and alarms.
  • •Coordinate work with operators, engineering, trades, and supervisors; test/inspect/observe power plant machinery to diagnose malfunctions and ensure constant electrical power supply.
  • •Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records, track/requisition parts and materials, complete daily engine/performance paperwork, and comply with safety policies and procedures (including MSHA and Red Dog EMS training).

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • •Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience operating and maintaining a Prime Power Diesel plant.
  • •Experience machining cylinder head surfaces/pockets and facing valve seats.
  • •Ability to read and understand operations and maintenance manuals.
  • •Knowledge and maintenance experience of Wartsila diesel engines and related systems (fuel injectors, turbochargers, pumps, cooling/charge systems, and selective catalytic reduction).
