Job Summary

Play a central role in building CMG’s next-generation data platform, designing and implementing a scalable lakehouse architecture on Google Cloud Storage and Databricks. Lead Medallion 2.0 (bronze ingestion, silver transformations, gold domain layers) using Delta Lake, PySpark, Delta Live Tables, and Astro (Airflow). Govern the lakehouse with Databricks Unity Catalog, collaborate with analytics on business-ready gold data, and coordinate with internal teams and external vendors while proactively managing risks and quality.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the technical design and implementation of CMG’s Medallion 2.0 lakehouse architecture (bronze ingestion, silver transformations, gold domain layers) on GCS and Databricks with data contracts at each boundary.
•Design and manage data pipelines using Astro (Airflow), PySpark, and Delta Live Tables to ensure reliability and scalability.
•Govern the lakehouse with Databricks Unity Catalog by managing access controls, data lineage, and schema enforcement across domains.
•Apply domain-driven design principles to partition and model data domains for areas like royalty, asset, artist, and distribution.
•Coordinate with internal analytics, DevOps, product teams, and external vendors to deliver business-aligned gold-layer outcomes and maintain clear documentation and status updates.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: CAD 120,000 - 150,000 annually

Key Requirements

•4+ years of data engineering experience, including 1–2 years focused on data platform or lakehouse architecture.
•Hands-on experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, PySpark, and ideally Unity Catalog.
•Experience with GCS or equivalent cloud object storage as a lakehouse foundation layer.
•Strong SQL skills and experience with a transformation framework (dbt preferred).
•Domain-driven design applied to data modeling, including familiarity with medallion/lakehouse architectures (bronze/silver/gold).
