Key Responsibilities

  • •Safely operate equipment within designed parameters and assist highway, utility, and grade crews on-site.
  • •Locate utilities and buried lines prior to digging; shovel earth to prepare ground trenches for pipes.
  • •Guide pipes into place, attach trench box and pipes to chains/guide wires, and cut/connect pipes using required tools and materials.
  • •Set up and move laser level/tripod and pipe lasers; build couplings, connectors, and mechanical joints; perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer issues.
  • •Maintain job site clean-up and safety by fencing off areas, setting barricades and cones, keeping machines cleaned, and tracking time/material records.

Key Requirements

  • •1 year of experience working on excavation sites and experience laying water, sewer, and storm drain (preferred).

  • •Ability to perform math calculations and work effectively with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
