Key Responsibilities

  • •Review and provide technical inputs to lead poisoning prevention technical package modules led by WHO Headquarters.
  • •Draft lead poisoning training materials for healthcare providers and submit feedback to WHO.
  • •Compile case studies, obtain data, and conduct analyses on pesticide poisoning (including intentional poisoning/self-harm and suicides) in Western Pacific Member States.
  • •Support strengthening IHR core capacities for chemical events and progress reporting on lead exposure prevention and control.
  • •Collate poison centre details for the WHO Global Directory, assess capacities via questionnaire, and support organizing regional/global meetings for poison centre networks in 2027.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 4,500 monthly

Key Requirements

  • •First university degree in toxicology, biomedical sciences, environmental health, ecology, natural science, or related field from a recognized university.
  • •Minimum 5 years’ experience in national and international work on sound management of chemicals of public health concern and/or chemical poisoning prevention and control.
  • •Proven knowledge and hands-on technical expertise in chemicals management or chemical poisoning prevention and control.
  • •Technical expertise in environmental health research and report writing.
  • •Expert knowledge of English (reading, writing, and speaking).
