Key Responsibilities

  • •Oversee implementation and management of Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure OSHA/EPA and company compliance.
  • •Maintain and manage EMS and Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS), conduct annual program reviews, and address audit findings.
  • •Manage process safety and risk management programs for ammonia refrigeration and coordinate site security plans with management.
  • •Lead healthcare and incident handling to reduce workers’ compensation costs, absenteeism, and turnover; review investigations and address EHS incident trends.
  • •Train production employees and management on OSHA/environmental regulations, SOPs, and emergency response protocols; communicate action plans based on EHS KPIs.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety or related field with 5+ years relevant experience; or equivalent education and experience combination.
  • •2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership.
  • •Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, including Process Safety Management requirements for ammonia refrigeration.
  • •Experience with air, water, and waste permitting for an industrial plant setting.
  • •Knowledge of workers’ compensation processes and injury investigation requirements.
