Job Summary

Join the Global Payments Legal team to advise TikTok’s Americas payments business on regulatory compliance in a highly regulated fintech environment. You’ll interpret U.S. federal and state money transmission, stored value, and payment network rules; counsel product counsel on new features; and review/negotiates agreements with payment service providers, banks, and financial services partners. You’ll also drive cross-functional projects and communicate complex compliance risks clearly to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

•Interpret U.S. federal and state money transmission, stored value, and payment network rules and guide business lines on payments regulatory compliance across the U.S., Canada, and LATAM.
•Advise product counsel on new products and features using subject matter expertise in payments and financial services.
•Review and negotiate agreements with third-party payment service providers, financial services companies, and banks in partnership with Payments Commercial Legal.
•Manage cross-functional projects across departments, partners, and product offerings across the Americas.
•Communicate complex legal and regulatory concepts clearly to internal and external stakeholders and build relationships to foster payments compliance and trust.

Key Requirements

•J.D. (or equivalent law degree) and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
•Experience advising on U.S. federal and state money transmission, stored value, and prepaid access laws.
•Experience with payments regulatory compliance in the fintech or financial services industry.
•Ability to interpret regulations and translate them into actionable business advice for non-legal audiences.
•Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements with payment service providers or financial institutions.
