Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and check hydraulic models using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS and ICM to assist design of Flood Alleviation Schemes, deliver Flood Risk Assessments and conduct reservoir flood studies.
  • •Develop water quality models (physico-chemical, biological, bacterial, or chemical) using industry standard software such as MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT and/or ICM.
  • •Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches with consideration of risks and opportunities in each project.
  • •Undertake and check hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP.
  • •Lead and input into tenders ranging from innovative one-off projects to multimillion-pound framework contracts.

Key Requirements

  • •Significant experience in hydraulic and water quality modelling software (e.g., Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller, and/or TUFLOW).
  • •Demonstrable knowledge of Environment Agency requirements in preparing flood models for Flood Risk Assessments.
  • •Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline; near to obtaining CIWEM or similar professional qualification.
  • •Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • •Practical knowledge of scripting programmes such as Python, Anaconda, Ruby would be advantageous.
