Key Responsibilities

  • •Fabricate, assemble, and integrate mechanical subassemblies for quantum-computer machines, including electronics racks, enclosures/frames, cold plates, liquid-cooling manifolds, cable management, and opto-mechanical modules.
  • •Perform pressure and leak tests, flow checks, mechanical inspections, and record results while escalating out-of-spec findings with clear evidence.
  • •Diagnose mechanical and fluid-system issues on the floor using hands-on teardown, measurement, and recreation of failure modes; coordinate fixes with scientists and engineers.
  • •Run and own the mechanical development room and machine shop, operating manual/CNC-assist equipment and building fixtures, brackets, adapters, and one-off parts from engineering drawings/sketches.
  • •Support manufacturing by creating build-ready work instructions/travelers/fixture designs, performing incoming and first-article inspection, and traveling occasionally to contract manufacturers to train and troubleshoot.

Salary: USD 125,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •7+ years as a mechanical technician or mechanical assembler in a precision hardware environment (e.g., scientific instruments, semiconductor equipment, aerospace, optics, medical devices).
  • •Comfortable on a mill and able to hold ±0.010" when needed.
  • •Hands-on experience with fluid systems (fittings, tubing, manifolds, pumps or chillers) and with pressure and leak testing.
  • •Experience working around sensitive optics and electronics with strong cleanliness/ESD habits.
  • •Ability to lift 50 lb, work on ladders and under tables, and spend most of the day on your feet; strong written/verbal communication and documentation.
