Job Summary

Build and qualify features for SONiC, the open networking software that runs on Arista switches. Write specifications and implement system-software solutions in C/C++ and Python, create and automate test plans, and debug issues found by tests. Collaborate with engineers, upstream the SONiC changes, and work with customers and internal teams to triage networking problems and deliver software releases and patches.

Key Responsibilities

•Write functional and design specifications for system software to manage hardware components.
•Independently implement solutions for small-sized problems in system software using C, C++, and Python.
•Write test plan specifications and implement automated test programs to execute the described cases.
•Debug problems found by automated tests and implement fixes.
•Collaborate with engineers and Customer Support Engineers to analyze customer-network problems and provide fixes via software releases or patches.

Key Requirements

•BSc, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering with 2+ years of related post-graduate work experience.
•Knowledge of C, C++, and/or Python.
•Knowledge of UNIX or Linux.
•Understanding of L2/L3 networking, including at least one of: IP routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, PIM) or Layer 2 features (802.1d bridging, STP, 802.1ax LACP, 802.1AB LLDP, RFC 1812).
•Ability to utilize, test, and debug packet forwarding engine and vendor software libraries; experience with distributed systems and/or ethernet bridging/routing software is desirable.
