Job Summary

Software Engineer on the Infrastructure team responsible for the foundational cloud and networking layer: Kubernetes clusters and service mesh, edge/security infrastructure, cost management, and geo-distribution. You’ll build scalable, reliable platform components (IAM, VPC, K8s) to empower other teams, drive cost optimization, and unify compute across cloud regions, enabling Cursor to scale its developer tooling reach.

Key Responsibilities

•Own Kubernetes and cluster foundations, including service mesh, scaling, and ingress that teams can confidently deploy to
•Design geo-deployment architecture for replicable, robust multi-region deployments across cloud regions/providers
•Build edge and security infrastructure at the network edge to protect against abuse, manage rate limiting, and optimize traffic routing
•Own cost management and optimization, building attribution systems and balancing cost vs. reliability across cloud spend
•Unify the compute platform by defining a single container orchestration strategy for consistent deployments

Key Requirements

•Deep experience with AWS or comparable cloud providers, especially VPC networking, EKS/K8s, and IAM/account management
•Built and operated production Kubernetes clusters at scale, including service mesh, autoscaling, and multi-region deployments
•Understanding of edge networking, CDN/WAF architectures, and traffic management at the infrastructure level
•Advocates infrastructure-as-code, reproducibility, and self-serve reliable infrastructure for other teams
•Experience with cost optimization at scale or infrastructure migration/unification is a plus
