Key Responsibilities

  • •Assist the Chief Mate and Master with navigation and cargo watchkeeping as a prudent lookout or bridge steering officer.
  • •Conduct docking/undocking support, including handling lines, securing the ship, and assisting with loading/discharging of cargo.
  • •Perform deck maintenance duties under supervision of the Boatswain and assist with upkeep of decks and superstructure.
  • •Operate mechanical winches and assist in crane operations for cargo hoses and vessel stores as needed.
  • •Participate in drills and emergencies and help enforce rules, procedures, regulations, and pollution prevention practices.

Key Requirements

  • •Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

  • •Hold a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with required endorsements (Able Seafarer - Deck and RFPNW) and Proficiency in Survival Craft & Rescue Boats (PSC).
  • •Hold Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
  • •Able and willing to be away from home for periods in excess of two months and perform physical requirements (lifting/pushing/pulling and climbing ladders/stairs).
