Job Summary

Six-month internship in the Mechanical/Micromechanics engineering team at Audemars Piguet. You will study and model oxidation mechanisms of carbon steel surfaces as a function of manufacturing parameters, contribute to a DoE plan, run tests with production and lab teams, and characterize samples microstructurally and chemically to improve robustness and performance of industrial processes.

Key Responsibilities

•Study the influence of production processes (machining, turning, hardening and tempering, tribofiltration/ trovalisation, handling and storage) on oxidation of carbon steel surfaces.
•Define and plan a DoE (design of experiments).
•Carry out tests in collaboration with production and laboratory teams.
•Characterize samples in microstructural and chemical terms (oxidation, roughness, metallography).
•Statistically analyze results (correlations, modeling, mechanistic hypotheses).

Key Requirements

•You are in your final year of engineering in mechanical, micromechanical or materials (EPFL or equivalent).
•You master statistical tools (DoE, analysis of variance, simple modeling).
•You have good knowledge of metallurgy, particularly carbon steels.
•You have a strong interest in industrial processes and mechanisms of material transformation.
•You are rigorous, organized and have a structured analytical mindset.
