Job Summary

Operate and maintain an asphalt plant while coordinating dispatching, schedules, and production to meet mix needs, capacity, and tonnage. Keep production accurate by reading meters and gauges, maintaining logs, and collaborating with quality control technicians on material blend adjustments. Perform daily plant inspections and maintenance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure safety compliance, including PPE use and lockout/tagout and confined space procedures.

Key Responsibilities

•Coordinate and assign dispatching of trucks in the yard and communicate with vendors, trucks, operations, plant crew, and supervisor.
•Create the daily plant schedule based on mix needs, capacity, and tonnage, and safely load trucks while processing tickets/paperwork.
•Safely operate and maintain the asphalt plant and construction equipment by determining material quantities, adjusting controls for temperature and flow, and monitoring production levels.
•Collaborate with quality control technicians to ensure asphalt meets required specifications and adjust material blends as needed; maintain logbooks and writing reports.
•Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance, including general maintenance/cleanup, welding and repairs, and train/mentor new hires as needed.

Key Requirements

•Excellent oral and written communication skills to coordinate with customers, vendors, management, and crew under high-stress situations.
•High attention to detail and ability to multitask while handling high-stress situations.
•Use computer, phone/smart phone, fax, hand-held devices, and CB radios; write reports and maintain logbooks.
•Basic mechanics including welding and using tools, plus basic math calculations with decimals.
•1+ year of experience in road or construction field working outdoors.
