Job Summary

Own technical direction and architectural consistency across 2K’s cross-platform, cross-language SDK portfolio used by studios across many titles. As a senior individual contributor, you’ll drive decisions on API design, versioning, performance, and reliability while staying hands-on with production code. This AI-first role leverages LLMs and AI tooling for design, bindings, RFCs, refactors, and automation—partnering with engineering managers and studio leads to shape roadmap and developer experience.

Key Responsibilities

•Drive technical decisions across the SDK portfolio, defending architectural direction for design, layering, versioning, and evolution across Unreal, Unity, native C++, Go, JavaScript, and other targets.
•Ensure architectural consistency across language and engine variants so studios get a predictable developer experience regardless of SDK choice.
•Stay hands-on by writing production code, prototyping hard problems, leading toughest implementations, and participating consistently in code review.
•Set and uphold the bar for API design, documentation, backward compatibility, performance, and reliability.
•Use LLMs and AI-powered workflows to accelerate work and build AI-assisted tooling that scales the SDK team’s impact; mentor engineers and partner with engineering managers on strategy, hiring, and team growth.

Key Requirements

•8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time designing and shipping SDKs, libraries, tools, or platform APIs used by other engineers.
•Fluency in C++ and at least one of C# (Unity), Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to ramp quickly on the others.
•Hands-on experience with Unreal and/or Unity, including how engines integrate with external native libraries.
•Strong instincts around API design, versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility.
•Hands-on experience using LLM tools (Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as part of daily workflow.
•Comfortable being the technical decision-maker.
•Clear, generous communicator who can write design docs and explain trade-offs to non-engineers.
