Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, implement, and own overlay networking components (routing, virtual connections, channel lifecycle) and underlying physical transport/protocols (e.g., BLE, LAN, Wi‑Fi Aware, AWDL).
  • •Drive re-architecture of the networking stack for modularity, scalability, and high performance by defining clear interfaces and ownership boundaries between transport layers and mesh abstractions.
  • •Debug and improve real-world connectivity reliability, including MTU negotiation, pairing instability, throughput ceilings, and cross-platform data sync behavior.
  • •Build and optimize transport mechanisms with flow control, backpressure, congestion handling, retries, connection lifecycle management, and failure recovery.
  • •Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks across latency, memory footprint, CPU utilization, and tail behavior in highly concurrent async systems.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years building systems software, with at least 3 years focused on networking, transport protocols, or routing.
  • •Strong proficiency in Rust or C++, including ownership/borrowing, async runtimes, concurrency primitives, and profiling/optimization.
  • •Understanding of mesh networking and transport semantics such as TCP, UDP, and QUIC, including connection establishment, congestion/flow control, retransmission, and MTU/fragmentation tradeoffs.
  • •Exposure to networked services/protocols and the ability to debug complex concurrent/network behavior (race conditions, deadlocks, resource leaks, latency spikes).
