Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage your own caseload from receipt of papers through to resolution of costs, including settlement within agreed negotiation parameters.
  • •Proactively review cases and formulate initial costs strategies and settlement parameters; prepare points of dispute and consider replies.
  • •Negotiate settlement of costs using telephone discussions and written correspondence, updating clients on progress and handling matters within SLAs.
  • •Instruct counsel and attend conferences, detailed assessment hearings, and mediations remotely and in person; attend court for application hearings as required.
  • •Supervise and mentor 2–3 junior costs negotiators, supporting technical competency and ensuring delivery of performance targets, Keoghs quality standards, and client SLAs/KPIs/MI requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •12 months experience in a similar costs negotiator role handling your own caseload, for either claimant or defendant.
  • •Degree and/or LPC and/or ALCD.
  • •Experience providing client liaison, taking instructions, and delivering advice verbally and in writing.
  • •Experience of the Detailed Assessment process, including preparing Points of Dispute and considering replies.
  • •Strong telephone negotiation skills and understanding of current costs case law and insurance litigation practice.
