Job Summary

Build and evolve a durable, highly available, horizontally scalable distributed streaming platform that powers Camunda 8 orchestration. You’ll lead medium-to-large backend initiatives, improve disaster recovery and resilience (backup/restore, multi-region, multi-tenant), and design developer/operator tooling for complex production systems. Work closely with product, design, QA, DevOps, Support, and SRE, including participating in L3 support and on-call rotations.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, build, and maintain backend services for the distributed streaming platform powering Camunda 8 orchestration capabilities with durability, high availability, and horizontal scalability.
•Lead medium-to-large engineering initiatives (3+ months) end-to-end, partnering with Product on requirements, writing solution designs, drafting and maintaining project plans, and driving timely delivery.
•Improve disaster recovery and resilience, including evolving an online backup/restore API and contributing to multi-region and multi-tenant cloud capabilities.
•Design and implement developer and operator tooling to help teams understand, troubleshoot, and safely operate complex distributed systems in production.
•Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations to investigate and resolve complex, performance-sensitive production issues, feeding learnings back into the platform.

Key Requirements

•7+ years of professional experience as a software engineer focused on backend and/or distributed systems.
•Lead medium-to-large engineering initiatives end-to-end (about 3+ months), translating ambiguous problems into solution designs, project plans, and predictable delivery.
•Hands-on experience building and maintaining highly concurrent, data-intensive software, including low-level network and disk I/O (throughput, latency, backpressure, batching, failure modes).
•Ability to work autonomously and navigate ambiguity by breaking problems into concrete steps and driving them to completion.
•Strong communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first environment, translating business requirements into actionable technical work.
