Key Responsibilities

•Assist with selecting up to 2,500 pedigree birds daily by identifying gender, catching, scanning wing band numbers, and auditing market birds for wing bands while monitoring ventilation and light.
•Properly identify the coop birds are assigned to.
•Maintain clean foot pans and sanitize the selection breakroom and all equipment; observe farm structures/equipment and recommend needed maintenance and repairs.
•Set up for selection by loading empty coops, placing catch frames, hanging lights, setting up scales and scanner, making coop labels, placing coops in pens, and ensuring correct end-of-day disposal of dead birds.
•Perform other assigned duties, including moving birds for other processing steps, washing/disinfecting vehicles, and euthanizing weak/ill birds per company policy.

Key Requirements

•At least 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no employment gaps greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
•If laid off or providing child/elder care, employment gaps can be increased to 18 months.
•Be willing to sign agreements to avoid avian species and to follow the company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines.
•Be willing and able to perform physical requirements, including regular lifting/moving up to 50 pounds and frequent bending/stooping.
•Follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in a biosecure jobsite.
