Key Responsibilities

  • •Progress your own caseload from receipt of papers to resolution of costs, proactively reviewing cases to set initial costs strategy and settlement parameters.
  • •Prepare points of dispute and consider replies, identifying and documenting strengths and weaknesses in both your case and the opponent’s costs claims.
  • •Negotiate and settle costs by telephone within agreed negotiation parameters, updating clients on progress and dealing with correspondence within SLAs.
  • •Conduct periodic file reviews aligned with client requirements and deliver agreed performance targets, Keoghs quality standards, and client SLAs/KPIs/MI requirements.
  • •Instruct counsel and attend detailed assessment hearings and mediations (remotely and in person), and delegate tasks to a paralegal while supporting their development to meet objectives.

Key Requirements

  • •Ideally experience as a junior costs negotiator handling your own caseload for claimant or defendant, or willingness to be trained with similar work in costs negotiation.
  • •Degree and/or LPC and/or ALCD qualification.
  • •Previous client/customer liaison experience, taking instructions and providing advice verbally and in writing.
  • •Knowledge of the Detailed Assessment process and relevant CPR provisions relating to costs.
  • •Good telephone negotiation skills and ability to use your own initiative to make decisions.
