Key Responsibilities

  • •Act as primary point of contact for researchers in a defined School/portfolio, providing expert guidance on developing and submitting research applications.
  • •Collaborate with researchers, partners, and collaborators on proposal preparation and funding submissions to UK, EU, and international funders.
  • •Review, recommend, and draft clauses for negotiation of contractual and grant funding agreements, including collaboration, Data Sharing, and Material Transfer agreements.
  • •Provide advice on proposal content to ensure alignment with funding criteria and compliance with funder and University requirements.
  • •Cost research proposals and advise on risk management, due diligence of external partners, and risk mitigation strategies.

Key Requirements

  • •Educated to degree level (or equivalent) and significant relevant practical experience, with evidence of progressive responsibility.
  • •Demonstrated literacy and numeracy with ability to write clearly for varied audiences and analyse source material, information, and data.
  • •Knowledge of the UK research funding ecosystem and key research funders’ processes.
  • •Detailed knowledge and experience providing research support across grants and/or agreements (ideally in higher education).
  • •Experience coordinating research grants and/or research agreements, including risk identification/assessment and building effective mitigations.
