Key Responsibilities

  • •Depending on project scope, lead and mentor crowds artists and TDs, including assigning work and giving clear feedback in dailies and reviews.
  • •Collaborate with show leadership (e.g., VFX Supervisor and character/effects leads) to interpret crowds briefs and set visual and technical standards across the show.
  • •Supervise crowds work on shots and sequences to ensure crowds behavior, scale, and staging support story clarity and cinematic composition.
  • •Create or refine selected crowds setups, cycles, and/or shots—especially complex hero or reference-setting work—to establish quality and approach.
  • •Help define crowd tools, workflows, and libraries, troubleshoot technical/artistic issues, and provide input to production management on crowds complexity and progress.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: CAD 188,000 - 228,000

Key Requirements

  • •Significant experience in crowds or character effects work for feature animation, VFX, or high-end series, including time in a Lead or Supervisory role.
  • •A strong reel demonstrating high-quality crowds systems and simulations integrated into complex sequences.
  • •Proficiency with crowds and simulation tools such as Houdini, with familiarity in other DCCs (e.g., Maya, Golaem, or Massive) as a plus.
  • •Strong understanding of how crowd work interacts with Animation, Layout, Environments, FX, CFX, Lighting, and Compositing in a production pipeline.
  • •Excellent communication and leadership skills for providing clear, constructive feedback and collaborating across departments.
