Key Responsibilities

  • •Deliver Storage Layer Services goals across a 6–18 month timeframe and define the next 12 months’ roadmap.
  • •Write well-tested, production-ready Rust code for high-risk parts of a large codebase and act as a force multiplier for improvements to processes and tools.
  • •Use observability to measure impact of shipped work and investigate performance regressions through complex changes balancing tradeoffs.
  • •Champion operational excellence and participate in a one-week-in-6 on-call rotation.
  • •Mentor engineers and help handle time-sensitive customer escalations; propose high-impact, cross-team projects aligned to technical strategy.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years building, debugging, and performance-tuning highly concurrent and/or distributed systems, especially using systems languages such as C, C++, or Rust.
  • •Track record as an effective technical leader who helps teams solve vaguely defined problems iteratively and measurably.
  • •Strong systems fundamentals including cache management, log-based recovery, transactions, and/or performance profiling.
  • •Ability to reason about highly concurrent asynchronous services, including backpressure, tail latency, and failure modes.
  • •Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills, including mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across teams.
