Key Responsibilities

  • •Select pipe, materials, and related equipment according to specifications, and plan layouts and assembly alignment.
  • •Lay out, position, align, and fit components in various body positions, then tack weld assemblies when needed.
  • •Weld metal components for products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube, or structural shapes using arc and arc gas welding equipment.
  • •Monitor and connect welding-unit parameters (amperage, voltage, slope, pulse) according to procedures or supervision.
  • •Assemble structural forms (e.g., machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings) using blueprints and metallurgy knowledge to meet NDE requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •Ability to select pipe/materials and welding equipment according to specifications.
  • •Proficiency using welding processes including SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW to produce code-compliant welds.
  • •Capability to certify on multi-process pipe and meet NDE (non-destructive examination) requirements.
  • •Knowledge of welding techniques and metal properties such as geometry, weld shrinkage, and machining/physical properties.
  • •Ability to work from blueprints to lay out, align, and weld structural forms in multiple orientations.
