Job Summary

Coordinate and improve Red Dog Mine’s waste management and recycling programs. Partner with departments to standardize compliant SAA/CAA practices, develop waste tracking and recycling optimization, and update/implement site waste management systems and plans. Lead required RCRA training, plan episodic cleanup events, and help build a centralized onsite waste and recycling management facility, reporting to the Environmental Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities

•Be a safety leader and adhere to/sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
•Improve and standardize SAA and CAA compliant management practices.
•Develop and improve tracking systems for compliant management of scrap metal, used oil and glycol streams, scrap vehicles and equipment, and other solid/recyclable waste streams.
•Identify opportunities and implement means to maximize recycling; develop and update/improve the site’s waste management system and waste tracking tool.
•Develop and deliver required RCRA and other waste management training, plan and execute site cleanup events, and support a centralized onsite waste and recycling management facility and operations plan/blueprint.

Key Requirements

•3+ years of RCRA LQG hazardous and nonhazardous solid waste management experience at an operating industrial facility (metals mine and Alaska experience preferred).
•Successful compliant management and recordkeeping for SAAs and CAAs, hazardous waste manifests, and waste determinations/waste profiling.
•Assist with other site requirements related to RCRA Subtitle C compliance.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word (Access is a plus).
•Current in or able to obtain upon hire: MSHA Part 48 Surface Mining, OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, comprehensive RCRA, DOT and IATA training.
