Job Summary

Lead and grow Northern California planning services by organizing and delivering large, complex planning projects across transportation, housing, environmental, and land use disciplines. Serve as client advisor, staff manager, and pursuit/project manager—providing QA/QC oversight, P&L leadership, and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Supervise multidisciplinary teams through feasibility studies, NEPA/CEQA documentation, plan updates, and climate action planning while building client relationships and leading proposal scopes and negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead a Northern California team of land use, housing, transit/transportation, and environmental (NEPA/CEQA) planners.
•Provide P&L leadership for projects and pursuits, including managing KPIs and outcomes.
•Lead multidisciplinary project teams across feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, site selection reports, NEPA/CEQA compliance documents, plan updates, and climate action plans.
•Prepare and oversee project budgets and profitability, including supervising subcontractors, contract work, and employees.
•Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.

Key Requirements

•Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience in land use, transportation planning, housing planning, environmental planning, or policy work.
•Led projects and overseen the work of others successfully and/or managed staff.
•Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy, or related field.
•Experience with transit agencies, local municipalities, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), and/or California regulatory agencies.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to present and communicate orally and in writing.
