Key Responsibilities

  • •Build and define Goodfire’s legal foundation as the company’s first in-house lawyer.
  • •Lead negotiations for enterprise software and AI/security-related licensing, data rights, and liability contracts.
  • •Own legal matters across employment agreements, fundraising, and board-related work.
  • •Advise on AI/SaaS licensing, AI security, and interpretability decisions critical to business strategy.
  • •Operate comfortably as the only lawyer in the room, handling both high-stakes decisions and day-to-day legal execution.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 200,000 - 400,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •JD and active membership in at least one US state bar (California preferred).
  • •6+ years across law firm and in-house roles at technology companies, including leading enterprise software deals.
  • •Excellent judgment and experience with AI/SaaS licensing, data rights, liability, and forward deployed contracts.
  • •Strong grasp of AI, particularly AI security and interpretability.
  • •Comfort being the only lawyer in the room and owning all legal-related work, big and small.
