Job Summary

Support PGE’s transmission and distribution design and construction standards as part of the Standards Engineering team in Portland, Oregon. Update and improve external-facing standards aligned with compliance, industry best practices, and internal operational needs. Prepare engineering deliverables and oversee complex overhead/underground material and equipment specifications, including quality assurance reviews. Coordinate T&D standards projects, provide technical guidance to engineers and contractors, and train designers and field technicians on new standards.

Key Responsibilities

•Apply transmission and design standards for overhead/underground distribution design, construction practices and materials, and applicable codes/regulatory requirements.
•Prepare engineering deliverables and develop/update material and equipment specifications for transmission and distribution projects.
•Conduct quality assurance reviews and provide technical guidance for complex engineering solutions and studies.
•Coordinate and plan T&D standards projects, including representing the team to internal/external (regulatory) stakeholders and supporting capital budgets and job estimates.
•Share knowledge by training designers, field technicians, and less experienced colleagues on new T&D standards and developing training content.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering (or related field), with ABET-accredited program preferred.
•Typically 2+ years in engineering for P2; typically 5+ years in engineering (or 4+ years with PE license) for P3.
•Professional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred; may be required based on role.
•Knowledge of transmission and design standards, including overhead/underground distribution design, construction practices and materials, and regulatory requirements/codes.
•Ability to review, evaluate, and analyze technical information, policies, and reports.
